Summer rain

*Warning, if you live in Queensland, please don’t read this blog*

As Queensland is ravaged by floods at the moment, it seems very selfish to rejoice in the rain we experienced today. It was a steamy morning, really foul. Sweat beaded on my face as I went about my morning chores. It was forecast to rain, but the forecasts have been known to be wrong. Perth has just experienced its driest Winter on record, or so the Water Corporation ads tell us. We are dry and brown.

At 10am the skies opened up, if only for a half hour deluge. Oh it rained! Hard, vertical and strong. The water pooled, and flowed down the road and the heat and humidity abated. If only for half an hour.

It is sweltering again. But the garden has been watered by the Gods.

The second photo in close up shows the perfect vertical rain -lost in the smaller photo.

  1. Poor Queensland… but I think they would understand. x

  2. Hello hello! I’m so glad you’re onto the whole ‘try new things every week’ linky idea. And no, it doesn’t have to be expensive food. Just a different order or something… cheap ideas definitely recommended! Oh, and yes you post your post and then click on “Click Here to Enter” on the linky and it will tell you what to do. Easy peasy. Can’t wait until Thursday! xx

  3. Oh yes. The whole rain thing is ridiculous isn’t it? Literally drought then floods…
