The Christmas Spirit

I wanted to record this conversation I shared with miss e on the drive home from school yesterday:

Me: So you had a great time singing Christmas Carols with your choir at the Nursing Home?

Miss e: It was so much fun Mum! I feel really sad for all the people in the Home though. It is not like they are sick and can go home when they are better. They are there because they are old and frail, and they will just get older. Some of them seem really sad. Some of them have lost their memory and some of them have minds that don’t work the same anymore. There was one thin lady sitting right in the front of the group though, and she was having the best time! She was clapping and smiling and bouncing around in her chair.

There were lots of workers there too. I think it was to help if any of the old people got confused or needed help.

Me: Perhaps they were also there because they wanted to enjoy your singing too?

Miss e: Yeah, maybe. They are such wonderful people to work there. It takes a very special person to be so loving and kind every day.

I felt really special to be able to sing for them all and make their day happier.

  1. That’s lovely – it’s what Christmas is all about. Your daughter is so right: it really does take a very special person to be so loving and kind every day. x
