It’s Starting to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

We put our Christmas Tree up on Sunday night, a little early but we knew this week was going to be spent at three different school functions during the evenings.

We turn the Christmas carols on and have lots of fun piling the tree with ornaments collected over the years. I especially love the crafty school made ones – the paper doily angels with the photo faces of both the girls, the bread dough baby Jesus in the manger and the beaded pipe cleaner baubles. I get sentimental with some of the ornaments, the first ornaments I ever bought when I was at uni and living with my grandmother. I bought a little tree and some decorations to put up at her house. These include a set of tiny little Santas, and three larger ceramic hanging Santas as well as a set of little wooden old fashioned sleighs and reindeer and elves.

We have a family tradition each year where we go shopping to choose one ornament each to add to our collection. It makes for an eclectic looking tree, but we love it.

I was a little anxious about master x’s response to seeing the tree and all of its pretty, shiny, fragile ornaments. It was delightful seeing his face the next morning as he looked at it in wonder. But he hasn’t touched it once. He likes to proudly announce that it is called a “Chissmass tee” and as long as he is acknowledged, then he is happy.

  1. Hi Vanessa,
We are putting our tree up tonight; we have to be careful not to let Christmas enter our home until Acacia’s birthday has been totally celebrated and honoured.
I too love the decorations we’ve gathered over the years and the memories they represent.
Will email you a personal message soon with some photos of us.

  2. I don’t care what anyone says, I LOVE Christmas and the earlier you put up the tree, the more Christmassy it feels. It even gets us motivated to do some Christmas shopping.

Christmas is so much more exciting when there are littlies around calling it the Chissmass Tee. Too cute!
