Holy Communion

Miss e made her First Holy Comunion yesterday. I transferred her from her Catholic primary school last year, so to make her Communion this year, she has been attending religious classes after school.

She broke her humerus, close to her elbow on Tuesday and not being able to slip her left arm through clothing has made dressing her a challenge. Granny decided early in the week it would be  best to unstitch the shoulder seam and restitch her into the dress on the morning. There wasn’t much we could do about the collar and cuff, but she looked gorgeous none the less.

Her big sister made her Holy Communion two years ago. At the time of buying her dress, miss e asked, “Will I have to wear the same dress, or can I choose my own?” I knew immediately she wanted more flounce and frill than her sister’s choice of a straight A line number. So this is the dress chosen by Miss e herself.

Miss i was miffed that miss  e and her fellow Communicants were given the wine to drink, because she was not allowed to when she made her Communion. The looks on the faces of the Communicants was comical!

She had a lovely day. The service was held at St Mary’s Star of the Sea Church in Cottesloe with a morning tea for the ten Communicants in the hall afterwards. We then hosted a lunch on our deck for about 18 friends and family.

Another great opportunity for a family photo.

  1. What a lovely dress. She looks stunning despite the little sling. I think you did well to sew her back into her beautiful dress.

    And the family photo. Stunning!
