On Wednesday night miss i received the Sacrament of Confirmation with 47  of her schoolmates. It was a beautiful Mass supported by the School Choir and some instrumentalists. The girls were well prepared and enjoyed a very special evening.

Miss i chose Saint Jerome, the Saint of Orphaned Children as her Confirmation name. She has studied orphans extensively this year as a part of an Extension Programme she is involved with and felt a connection with him.

In the Catholic Church, this Sacrament is taken at a stage in your life when you understand its meaning and therefore make the decision to be confirmed. So although she attends a Catholic School, not all students chose to be confirmed. As a Mother, I felt comforted that she has chosen to include God in her life and to follow a set of values outlined by her faith.

This is not a post to promote Catholicism or Christianity, just a Mum being honest about her feelings that her daughter has a faith to walk with her through the tough times. Personally it was a turning point for me when I realised I wasn’t alone.

  1. How wonderful. It is a very exciting time in her life and I know that this will be an event which she will always remember. And hopefully it will be a pivotal moment in her life that she can go back to.
