Our Camper Returns

Oh how we missed her. For three days her energy was missing from the house. It was quiet. We all wondered what she was doing, was she having fun? She arrived back to school at 4.30pm Friday afternoon, so proud that a brush had not passed through her hair during the time she was away, her voice was hoarse from overuse, and she was very proud of her blackened feet! She smelled of campfire and had the biggest smile on her face. Oh how we had missed her!

I asked her, “What was the best experience?” She replied “The Farm!” and without a breath, “and the food!” She immediately went into an in depth description of each meal. Seems she had the World’s Best Chicken Lasagne, the most gorgeous (yes she used that word) homemade chocolate pudding, tasted yabbies caught at the farm (taste like chicken Mum) and made damper on the campfire. The only disappointment was the lunches. Soggy sandwiches.

She showed us the photos she had taken on her camera. “I didn’t get many, I was having so much fun I kept forgetting to take it.”  That would explain the 15 photos of her classmates on the bus going to camp, and no more. We laughed with her! It is better to enjoy life, than to film it I said.

She was photographed, stripped off on the verandah and carried straight to the shower. After inhaling a home made pizza she put herself to bed, BEFORE Biggest Loser!!!! Oh how we missed her!

  1. That is beautiful. You should print that off and use it as the background to a scrap page or something – at least capture it for her to have as she grows up.
